Blonde Kim for the Win

Babes, it won’t be a surprise to anyone out there that I absolutely adore blondes – especially platinum, brass free, almost white blonde. As all of the internet knows, our dearest Kim decided to debut her hair jump from the darkest of browns to the lightest of blondes during Paris Fashion Week – and I have LOVED every minute of it! There are so many conflicting opinions out there (such as Ye MADE her do it) and memes (Oh God, the memes) – but I’m only interested in the opinion of my babes – Are you LOVING or LEAVING Kim’s blonder than blonde look?

Blonde to Blonder

Babes, for a while now I’ve been wanting to go blonde – I’ve done the ombre, I’ve done the sombre, I’ve done the “natural” looking blonde highlights (aka not natural looking at all) – and recently I decided it’s time to try PLATINUM. I was a little apprehensive, as I’ve been dying my hair for literally years and I know the road to platinum barbie hair is usually a long one and causes more than a little damage to your hair.  Continue reading

Babe of the Week: Blake Lively

Since my blog is called Beauty AND Babes, I thought it was about time to get the babe ball rolling! The first babe to be featured is (drumroll please)…the absolutely gorgeous Blake Lively! Not only is she amazingly beautiful, she also has amazing style and always looks picture perfect. She just exudes sexiness and class, unlike some of her Hollywood peers… (who shall remain nameless). At 27, she really is fashion’s little darling, already having the honor of being the face of Chanel AND Gucci, and counts fashion icons Christian Louboutin and Lorraine Schwartz as close personal friends.  In addition to her beauty, modelling and fashion accomplishments and her acting achievements, Blake seems like a sweet, down to earth girl – who also just happens to be married to the devastatingly gorgeous Ryan Reynolds. Miss Lively really is one of my fashion icons and inspirations, and in honor of her as Beauty + Babes babe of the week, I am celebrating her top 5 best fashion looks!

1.

This has to be my all-time favourite Blake look. To me, she just looks so pretty and feminine, literally almost glowing. Blake debuted this Chanel Illusion dress at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival in France – the dress was tailored to her body perfectly and featured silver sequined tulle. The cinched in waist and pockets (!) added to the beauty of the dress. Blake lets the dress do most of the talking, adding the bare minimum of accessories. Blake’s hair seriously drives me crazy – she rocks the best beach wave-y hair while keeping it posh and red carpet appropriate. Could she be any more perfect?

Blake is absolutely giving me life in this dress! She looks utterly fantastic, and is definitely channeling old Hollywood glam in this glittering Gucci Premiere dress she wore to The Costume Institute Gala in May 2014. Again, the dress is tailored to fit her every curve and the girl knows how to rock her accessories – Lorraine Schwartz jewels and her hottie RR on her arm! It’s obvious to see why Ryan can’t keep his eyes – and hands – off Blake in this FAB look.

I honestly think Blake is one of the only women on this planet that could rock a dijon coloured leather halter body conscious dress (say that three times fast) – and the best part is, she does it so unbelievably effortlessly. This look she rocked at Milan Fashion Week in 2013 is absolutely gorgeous head to Gucci clad toe – the straight blowout, the pinky red lip colour, the immaculately tailored Gucci (no surprise there) dress – love, love, LOVE!

Versace, Christian Louboutin, Lorraine Schwartz – girl obviously knows how to pick ’em. Blake literally makes grown men cry in this GORGEOUS jaw dropping Versace grown at the 2009 Emmy Awards where she was a presenter. Her minimal jewellery paired with her eccentric high braided ponytail balances the whole look and let’s not forget the dress – can we talk about THIS dress? The cut down to there cleavage and the cut up to there slit – Blake brings her natural classiness to this look where as so many others would not be able to do this dress justice. In my opinion, Blake is basically taking over the world with this look.

This is one of Blake’s more casual looks, but she is still rocking it as if the world was her runway (and let’s be honest, it is). This look was snapped while Blake was modelling for a photo shoot for Lucky Magazine in 2013. I think the look is super chic, and actually very wearable for us average (read: not Blake) fashionistas. Blake is fabulously styled – Marc Jacobs cashmere sweater, Manolo Blahnik “Mielozelas” heels, Giuseppe Zanotti leather handbag, and her pencil skirt (loving the accent zippers) is from Guess – yes, you read that right. Her straight voluminous blowout once again gives me Blake hair envy, which I am pretty used to by now. The bottom line: Blake, darling, you are one fashionable Babe – never change!
